After six months of being a die-hard ChatGPT user, I finally made the switch to Claude 4.7 Opus. Here's why.
The Writing Quality Difference
The first thing I noticed was the writing quality. Claude 4.7 Opus writes like a human, not like a machine trying to sound human. The prose is natural, varied, and actually enjoyable to read. When I asked it to write a blog post about quantum computing, it produced content that my editor thought I'd written myself.
Context Window That Actually Works
With a 500K token context window, Claude 4.7 Opus can handle entire codebases, long documents, and complex conversations without losing track. I fed it my entire 50,000-line codebase and asked it to find a memory leak. It not only found the leak but also suggested three optimizations I hadn't considered.
Code Generation
Claude's code generation is noticeably more accurate than GPT-4. It writes cleaner code, follows best practices, and rarely makes syntax errors. I've been using it for Python, JavaScript, and Rust, and the quality is consistently excellent across all three.
The Verdict
If you're primarily doing creative writing, coding, or analysis, Claude 4.7 Opus is the better choice. If you need multimodal capabilities or integration with OpenAI's ecosystem, GPT-5 might be worth the premium. But for my money, Claude is the better value.
